Description
DihydRochelerythrine(DHC)isabenzophenanthridinealkaloidoriginallyfoundinthestembarkofGarcinia.Thiscompoundexhibitsawidevarietyofantimicrobialactivities(anti-parasitic,antifungal,andantibacterial)aswellasanticancer,analgesic,andanti-inflammatoryproperties.DHCisactiveagainstTrypanosoma,Leishmania,Botrytis,Erysiphe,Candida,andvariousgrampositiveandgramnegativebacteria.Additionally,DHCinducesdissipationofthemitochondrialmembranepotentialinleukemiacells,resultinginapoptosisandnecrosis.ThiscompoundalsobindsDNAsequencescontainingcontiguousGorCbasepairs.
